With a PhD in Biomedicine from the Pompeu Fabra University, for his doctoral thesis he investigated the regulation of the innate immune response to viral infections, identifying the mechanisms that control the activation of the type I interferon response and its impact on haematopoietic stem cells. He began his postdoctoral research in 2019 at the Francis Crick Institute (London), in Dominique Bonnet’s laboratory, where he gained a solid grounding in human haematopoietic stem cell biology, gene editing and in vivo experimental models. During this period, he also pursued an independent line of research focusing on the cellular and environmental determinants of clonal expansion. His career has been supported by international scholarships, including the Kay Kendall Leukaemia Fund Fellowship, as well as grants from the European Haematology Association (EHA) and Cancer Research UK (CRUK). Since December 2025, he's been a Junior Principal Investigator at the CaixaResearch Institute, where he leads a research programme aimed at integrating stem cell biology, immunology and translational approaches to study how the somatic evolution of the haematopoietic system influences immune function in ageing and in pre-malignant states. His research aims to identify key mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets that would enable intervention in the early stages of the disease.
