Biography
With a PhD in Immunology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, she's an expert in vaccines and infectious diseases with a particular focus on malaria and COVID-19. Her research has shown that the patient's immune status prior to vaccination is a key determinant of the vaccine response and efficacy, helping to redefine strategies for vaccine design and evaluation. She has spent her career at leading international centres such as the CISM in Manhiça (Mozambique), the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center (Seattle) and the University of British Columbia (Vancouver). She has been a researcher at ISGlobal since 2017 and was awarded a Ramón y Cajal Fellowship in 2022, which she will continue to pursue following her appointment at the CaixaResearch Institute.
