CaixaResearch Institute and the University of Barcelona join forces to advance immunology research and innovation

The framework agreement opens up new opportunities for joint work in talent, postgraduate training, scientific dissemination and knowledge transfer.

The CaixaResearch Institute has taken a new step in strengthening its links with the academic and scientific ecosystem through a collaboration agreement with the University of Barcelona. 

Through this partnership, we will work together in four strategic areas: attracting and retaining research talent, developing postgraduate and outreach activities, promoting innovation and knowledge transfer, and creating new opportunities for scientific exchange. 

The agreement was formalised through the signing of a framework agreement by the Executive Director of the CaixaResearch Institute, Àngel Font, and the Rector of the University of Barcelona, Joan Guàrdia. The signing coincided with a visit by a University of Barcelona delegation, led by the Rector, to the CaixaResearch Institute, offering an opportunity to explore our new facilities. 

As a centre specialised in immunology, we were created with the ambition of advancing a cross-disciplinary understanding of the immune system and its role in health and disease. In this context, strengthening our ties with the Universitat de Barcelona will help us connect research, training and innovation more closely, while opening up new opportunities for researchers, students and professionals. 

The agreement also reinforces our integration into one of Europe’s most dynamic biomedical research environments. By bringing together complementary strengths in science, education and innovation, we aim to contribute to a more connected ecosystem capable of generating knowledge with a tangible impact on society. 

This new step is part of our broader commitment to scientific excellence, talent development and the promotion of strategic links with key institutions across the research and health landscape. Through alliances such as this one, we continue to build the foundations of a project designed to advance immunology and help address some of today’s most pressing biomedical challenges.
