Biography

With a Master’s degree in Economics, Politics, and International Institutions from the University of Pavia, Federica Stornelli has over nine years of experience managing complex international projects in the health and medical research sectors. She has worked with major public and private funders, including the European Commission, the Global Fund and national governments. Her early career was spent in Tanzania, where she served as Project Manager and Country Director for a non-profit organisation implementing a leading programme in HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, and maternal and newborn health.

She later specialised in research management at the Vall d’Hebron Institut de Recerca (VHIR) and Fundació de Recerca Clínic (IDIBAPS-FRCB), supporting international collaborations and multicentre clinical trials.

At the CaixaResearch Institute, Federica coordinates the post-award team, strengthening grant management processes to ensure compliance, transparency and efficiency. She provides strategic financial and administrative guidance to support researchers throughout the lifecycle of funded projects and to maximise the impact of their work.
